Third BIRAX call to support research in arthritis
Arthritis Research UK are partnering with the Britain Israel Research and Academic Exchange Partnership (BIRAX) to promote cutting-edge research into regenerative medicine.
The third BIRAX research call, announced last week, will award £3 million to support innovative research to tackle some of the world’s most significant diseases.
One of the particular focuses of this call is arthritis, and we are delighted to be a partner in this initiative. Proposals are invited to focus on clinical translation that aims to develop new treatments for people with arthritis to enable functional improvements, reduced pain and to help delay, reduce or prevent the need for joint replacement surgery
BIRAX, a £10 million initiative, was set up by the British Embassy in Israel and the British Council in collaboration with the Pears Foundation and the United Jewish Israel Appeal.
Other charity partners include Alzheimer’s Society, the British Heart Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the MS Society and Parkinson’s UK.
Application forms will be available in November 2015. The deadline for full proposals is July 2016 with the successful projects being announced in January 2017.
