Job title: Research Fellow (Epidemiologist/Statistician), University of Nottingham

Applications are invited for the above post based in the Centre for Sport Medicine, which is in Academic Orthopaedics, Trauma and Sports Medicine.
The post holder’s main role will be to work with researchers across the full spectrum of research projects in the Centre to facilitate study design, data collection and data analyses for these projects, such as the ‘Ex-Footballers Study’ and ‘Ankle Study’ being undertaken in the University of Nottingham. The post holder will be expected to use initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their own research portfolio, for example, describing the epidemiology of sport, exercise and injury (or other lifestyle factors) with OA across the full spectrum of exercisers and/or developing methodologies to enable this type of research. The environment requires a high level of concentration, attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision. Candidates must have an MSc in statistics or statistical epidemiology (or other relevant qualification) or a PhD (or soon to obtain) or equivalent in a relevant field. In addition, they should have strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills; the ability to work in a team, with good organisational and time management skills; and strong attention to detail. Extensive knowledge of medical statistics and expertise in handling large datasets is essential, as is expert knowledge of epidemiology study design.
This post will be offered on a fixed term contract until 31 December 2017. It is full time (36.25 hours per week, Monday -Friday). This post is open to job share. National travel will berequired. Availability to occasionally travel internationally would be desirable.
